This week let's take a look at the roles of a Web Designer and a Web developer/Programmer. You will see there is quite a difference and in many cases if you are serious about building a professional site, you will need both of them on your team

Web Designer-This professional is a graphic artist who designs the look and feel of your site, using Web design expertise and skills to:

• Create appropriate visuals to support the functions and readability of your site
• Create page layouts that support usability
• Choose user-friendly colors, fonts and images
• Apply your business brand to the Web site design
• Place all text and graphic elements in a user-friendly manner, guiding users to the information they need

Web Developer/Programmer-This advanced Web designer:

• Analyzes your site elements and needs and develops a plan for maximum functionality
• Creates your site map and page "wireframe" outlines (working with others)
• Oversees the programming and testing of your site
• Merges the graphic design and coding to create the actual site
• Writes custom code when needed
• Tests the site's functionality in all browser versions and types
